Wellington College International Pune Celebrates the Joy of Reading with Literary Festival 2025-26
Literacy festival at Wellington College International Pune inspires young readers and writers

Wellington College International Pune embraced the magic of storytelling as it marked World Book Day with a spirited, week-long Literacy Festival. The campus was transformed into a world of imagination, where corridors and classrooms came alive with the creativity and enthusiasm of pupils across all year groups. From intricately designed door displays inspired by beloved books to immersive reading sessions and artistic competitions, every corner of the school reflected a deep appreciation for literature and artistic expression. The week embodied the true essence of reading — not as an assignment, but as a source of curiosity, connection, and pure joy.A particularly heartwarming highlight was the Buddy Reading session, where senior pupils read stories for younger learners, turning reading into a moment of mentorship, empathy, and community. Another equally memorable moments were of quiet reflection, as the school paused to read in silence as an experience that united all in a shared love for books. The festival’s literary spirit was elevated by the presence of acclaimed author Ms Ilika Ranjan, who inspired pupils to see stories not only as something to enjoy but as something they could create. Her sessions sparked meaningful conversations on creativity and the writer’s craft, leaving young readers and aspiring authors deeply moved.Complementing the week’s celebrations, the Scholastic book fair offered pupils the joy of discovery, browsing, exploring new genres, and selecting books that spoke to them personally. The celebrations concluded with a vibrant literary character parade, where children brought their favourite fictional heroes to life with remarkable flair and imagination. The Literary Festival was far more than a week of activities; it was a celebration of the written word and a reflection of WCI Pune’s enduring commitment to cultivating a lifelong love for reading, nurturing not just thoughtful readers but inspired storytellers of the future.
