JEE Advanced 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 on Sunday, May 17, at centres across the country. The examination will be held in two shifts and candidates have been advised to strictly follow the exam-day guidelines issued by the authorities.Candidates appearing for the examination must carry a printed copy of the JEE Advanced 2026 admit card, a valid original photo identity proof and two passport-sized photographs to the examination centre. Entry to the exam hall will not be allowed without these documents.The admit card was released on May 11 and includes important details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, photograph, signature, exam centre address, reporting time and exam-day instructions. Candidates can download the admit card through the official website at jeeadv.ac.in till May 17, 2026, up to 2:30 PM.
JEE Advanced 2026 exam timings
The examination will be conducted in two papers:
- Paper 1: 9 AM to 12 noon
- Paper 2: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
PwD candidates will be given one hour of compensatory time. The question paper will be available in both English and Hindi, and candidates will be able to switch between languages during the examination.According to the marking scheme, candidates will receive four marks for every correct answer, while one mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.
JEE Advanced 2026: Documents and items to carry
Candidates are advised to reach the exam centre well before the gate closing time to avoid delays during frisking and biometric verification.The following items will be allowed inside the examination hall:
- Printed copy of JEE Advanced 2026 admit card
- Original photo identity card
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Pens and pencils
- Transparent water bottle
JEE Advanced 2026: Barred items inside exam hall
Electronic gadgets and several personal items will not be allowed inside the examination centre. Prohibited items include:
- Mobile phones
- Smart watches and watches
- Bluetooth devices
- Earphones and microphones
- Pagers and health bands
- Calculators and electronic pens
- Pen drives and scanners
- Wallets and handbags
- Cameras and goggles
- Written notes or printed papers
- Log tables and writing pads
- Geometry boxes, scales and erasers
- Pencil boxes and pouches
- Any similar electronic or communication device
JEE Advanced 2026 dress code
Candidates have also been advised to follow the prescribed dress code. IIT Roorkee has instructed students not to wear jewellery or metallic items such as rings, bracelets, chains, pendants, earrings, nose pins, badges or brooches.Candidates should avoid clothes with large buttons and are advised to wear open footwear such as sandals or chappals. The authorities have also asked students not to wear charms or taweez inside the examination hall.Candidates are advised to carefully check their reporting time and exam centre details mentioned on the admit card and make travel arrangements accordingly, especially those appearing for the examination outside their home city.
