'No fuel shortage': OMCs assure uninterrupted petrol, diesel and LPG supplies amid Middle East tensions

State-run oil marketing companies (OMCs), including Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), on Thursday said fuel and LPG supplies across the country remain uninterrupted amid the ongoing Middle East crisis, assuring consumers that there is adequate stock and no shortage in the system, ANI reported. The companies issued statements on social media platform X following reports of increased demand at certain retail outlets.IOCL said fuel supplies across its nationwide retail network remain stable and sufficient to meet consumer requirements.“IndianOil outlets across the nation continue to ensure adequate fuel availability, helping every journey move forward – without disruption,” the company said. The company also said its teams are working closely to ensure uninterrupted logistics and availability while urging customers to avoid panic purchases and buy fuel according to normal requirements.“We are committed to maintain smooth supply chain logistics for Petrol & Diesel,” IOCL said, adding that demand shifts had created temporary pressure at select locations but were being managed.BPCL said it maintained consistent LPG deliveries across the country between May 11 and May 20, ensuring uninterrupted availability for households, businesses and small vendors. The company said the continued dispatches reflected a strong supply chain and round-the-clock operations.“Availability remains steady, and customers are advised to continue normal consumption patterns without panic buying,” BPCL said.HPCL said fuel supplies across Rajasthan, including Jaipur, remain stable and adequate, with retail outlets operating normally.“There is no shortage of fuel in Jaipur, and all retail outlets are operating normally with regular replenishment and continuous supply support,” HPCL said. The company also shared fuel offtake data for May 1-20, 2026, which showed increased demand.Petrol sales rose to 50,575 KL from 42,501 KL earlier, marking an increase of 19 per cent, while diesel sales increased to 1,14,422 KL from 91,894 KL, up 24.5 per cent.In Jaipur, petrol sales increased 18.4 per cent and diesel sales rose 21.3 per cent during the same period.“HPCL officers and field teams are actively present on-ground to monitor the situation… and continuously engage with customers and dealers to discourage panic buying,” the company said.Separately, OMC sources told ANI that there has been no reduction in crude oil supplies from Russia and India remains adequately supplied with petroleum products.“There is no shortage of petrol/diesel/LPG as India is a net exporter and surplus in petroleum products,” OMC sources said.According to the sources, higher fuel sales at some outlets were driven by seasonal factors such as increased diesel demand during harvesting activities, along with consumers shifting from private retailers to state-run OMC outlets because of pricing differences.
