The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a clarification after a fake circular claiming the cancellation of the photocopy and revaluation process for the 2026 examinations began circulating on social media platforms.The Board stated that the notice being shared online is completely fake and has not been issued by CBSE. Students, parents, and schools have been advised not to believe or forward such misleading information without verification.
Fake notice claimed revaluation process was cancelled
The viral circular falsely claimed that CBSE had cancelled the ongoing process for obtaining photocopies of answer books and re-evaluation due to “technical challenges.” It further stated that students’ original marks would be treated as final and that fees collected for revaluation and photocopy requests would be refunded.However, CBSE has now officially rejected the claims and labelled the circular as “FAKE NEWS ALERT.” The Board clarified that no such decision has been taken regarding the revaluation or photocopy facility for students appearing in the 2026 examinations.
CBSE urges students to verify information through official sources
In its official message, CBSE warned students and parents against relying on rumours and unverified posts circulating online. The Board urged the public to cross-check all examination-related announcements only through official CBSE platforms.CBSE further clarified that all genuine notifications and circulars would have to be confirmed through the official website of CBSE:It also emphasized that such fake content must not be shared by any student, as these fake notices cause panic amongst students, especially when they are appearing for their board exams.
Increasing incidents of fake notices about examinations
As mentioned earlier, this is yet another case of fake notifications being circulated via social media regarding the examinations conducted by CBSE. Education boards all across India have time and again issued warnings to the students asking them not to blindly believe any news or notification circulated on various online sources in relation to admission forms, results, re-evaluation, and other exam details.
