Dubai has taken another major step in its smart mobility journey with the launch of its first fully integrated smart bus station at Mall of the Emirates. The new station, unveiled by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), combines artificial intelligence, sustainability and round-the-clock digital services to create a faster and more comfortable commuting experience. The futuristic station directly connects with the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station and currently serves 11 bus routes across Dubai. These include six Metro feeder routes, three internal routes and two seasonal routes, improving connectivity between residential, commercial and tourist areas.Dubai officials described the project as a major milestone in the emirate’s larger plan to modernise public transport using digital technology and smart infrastructure. The station is expected to reduce waiting times, improve passenger movement and encourage more residents to use public transport.

Details of Dubai’s new smart bus station

The new smart bus station at Mall of the Emirates is not just a modern transport hub, it is also one of Dubai’s most connected public transit points. The station directly links with the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station on the Red Line, allowing commuters to switch smoothly between the Metro, buses and taxis.According to the RTA, the station currently serves 11 routes, including six Metro feeder buses, three internal routes and two seasonal services. These routes connect key residential communities, business districts and tourist hotspots across Dubai. Some of the most frequently used feeder and city routes include:

  • F29 – Connects Al Quoz Industrial Area
  • F30 – Serves Dubai Production City (IMPZ) and Al Barsha South
  • F33 – Covers Al Barsha residential communities
  • F35 – Links The Greens, Barsha Heights and Dubai Internet City
  • F36 – Connects Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC)
  • F37 – Travels towards Sports City and Motor City
  • Route 106 – Seasonal service to Global Village during operating months

The station also provides connections to areas such as Umm Suqeim, Al Sufouh, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Science Park, Dubai Studio City and Al Ghubaiba. Tourist destinations including Dubai Miracle Garden and Global Village are also accessible through the network. Most feeder buses operate every 15 to 20 minutes during the day, while express and longer-distance routes generally arrive every 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and peak hours. Operating hours for most services start between 5:00am and 6:00am and continue until around midnight. For example, the F37 route towards Sports City usually starts around 5:30am from Mall of the Emirates, with the final service leaving close to 11:30pm.Passengers can track buses in real time using the RTA’s S’hail app, digital station displays and AI-powered information systems inside the smart station. Many Dubai commuters on Reddit also describe the S’hail app as the most accurate tool for checking live bus arrival timings and delays during peak traffic hours.

AI-powered technology transform commuting

One of the biggest highlights of the new smart bus station is its heavy use of artificial intelligence and real-time monitoring systems. The station features AI-powered cameras that monitor crowd movement, detect violations and help manage passenger flow more efficiently.Large digital displays installed across the station provide live updates on bus arrivals, Metro timings, taxi availability and navigation guidance inside the facility. Interactive kiosks and proactive digital platforms operate 24 hours a day, allowing commuters to access transport information instantly. The station is also integrated with Dubai’s broader smart transport ecosystem, including nol card services and digital mobility platforms such as the S’hail app. Officials say the goal is to create a seamless multi-transport experience where passengers can move smoothly between buses, Metro services and taxis.Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, said the station reflects Dubai’s strategy to create a modern and attractive public transport environment powered by advanced digital solutions.

Dubai’s futuristic ambitions

The opening of the smart bus station reflects Dubai’s wider ambition to position itself as a global leader in smart urban mobility and sustainable transport systems. Authorities believe projects like these will make public transport more appealing, efficient and environmentally friendly as the city continues to grow. The launch also comes as Dubai accelerates several major transport projects, including new Metro expansions, smart mobility systems and digital infrastructure upgrades aimed at supporting millions of residents and tourists in the coming years. For daily commuters, however, the biggest change may simply be a smoother and smarter journey, with air-conditioned waiting areas, live travel updates, AI-assisted crowd management and quicker connections all packed into one futuristic transport hub.
