New IIIT Hyderabad programme focuses on agentic AI system design, deployment and real-world applications training

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad’s Division of Flexible Learning has introduced a 12-week online certificate programme on engineering agentic AI systems.It is titled Engineering Agentic AI Systems: Agentic AI from Concepts to Practice and will be delivered online by faculty at IIIT Hyderabad’s Division of Flexible Learning, focusing on practical system building, deployment and testing for real-world use cases.Programme overviewThe 12-week programme is structured around hands-on learning to help participants build, test and deploy agentic AI systems grounded in real-world applications. It is led by Prof. Karthik Vaidhyanathan, Assistant Professor at IIIT Hyderabad and researcher in AI and software engineering.Curriculum and learning designThe curriculum comprises four modules covering foundations, design, implementation and operations of agentic AI systems, with emphasis on practical engineering and workflow automation in real-world environments.Leadership and faculty remarksProf. Sandeep Shukla, Director of IIIT Hyderabad, said the programme reinforces commitment to scalable AI education for professionals and students unable to access campus-based research, noting that agentic AI enables orchestration of transformer-based models into complex workflows for automation.Course instructor Prof. Karthik Vaidhyanathan stated that agentic AI requires a system-centric approach where engineering is as critical as models, highlighting that the course draws on research and practical experience to build reliable, scalable and deployable systems.Key dates and application scheduleApplications open on April 29, 2026 and close on June 15, 2026. Orientation is scheduled for June 27, 2026, with lectures and classes commencing on June 29, 2026.Programme details and prerequisitesThe programme runs for 12 weeks in a fully online format.
