‘India is a global powerhouse of talent’: Canada’s Cape Breton University signs MoUs

A delegation from Cape Breton University has signed three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Indian academic institutions as part of a multi-city outreach to strengthen higher education partnerships. The visit, led by president and vice-chancellor David C Dingwall, took place between April 27 and May 2 across New Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Vadodara and Ahmedabad.In an official statement, the univeristy said “India is fast emerging as a global powerhouse of talent and innovation, making it a strategic partner in shaping the next phase of higher education,” Dingwall had said. “This visit reflects our intent to build high-impact, future-focused collaborations that go beyond traditional academic exchange.” During its visit to the national capital, Dingwall discussed collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence, community development and startup ecosystems, according to a the statement as mentioned by news agency PTI. The discussions focused on expanding academic ties and exploring new areas of cooperation. In Delhi, the university signed a five-year MoU with BML Munjal University’s School of Engineering and Technology. The agreement will facilitate student and faculty exchanges, joint research and co-creation of academic conferences. A second agreement was signed with the National Education Forum, which will act as CBU’s official convening partner in India to support engagement with governments and institutions. The delegation also formalised a partnership with Lok Jagruti Kendra University. It held discussions with Parul University and Navrachana University to expand collaborations and build a regional academic network focused on student mobility and jointly developed programmes. Across engagements, hybrid learning models emerged as a key focus. These would allow Indian students to complete part of their coursework in India before moving to the university’s campus in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
