Man held over suspected weapon possession near Prince Andrew’s Sandringham home

A man was arrested near the Sandringham residence of Prince Andrew on Wednesday evening following reports of intimidating behaviour in the village of Wolferton, Norfolk Police said.The suspect was detained on suspicion of committing a public order offence and possessing an offensive weapon. He was taken to King’s Lynn police station for questioning, with investigations continuing on Thursday.According to reports in The Guardian, the incident took place near Sandringham Royal Parkland and Marsh Farm, where Prince Andrew is currently staying after reportedly leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor last year.Police said they received a call shortly after 7.30 pm reporting that a man was behaving aggressively in Wolferton, a small village near the Sandringham Estate.Reports suggested that Prince Andrew was accompanied by a member of his private security team at the time of the incident. Witnesses reportedly saw him move quickly towards a nearby vehicle before leaving the area.The incident occurred on public land near a pathway surrounding the Sandringham Estate, where security measures are often heightened because of the presence of members of the British royal family connected to King Charles III.Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the arrest. Representatives for Prince Andrew also did not issue a statement despite media enquiries.Prince Andrew has remained under public scrutiny in recent years over his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The Duke of York has repeatedly denied allegations related to Epstein and other accusations made against him.The latest incident near Sandringham has renewed attention on security concerns surrounding members of the royal family, with Norfolk Police continuing inquiries into the circumstances of the arrest.
