SSC Stenographer exam 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will soon close the online application process for the Stenographer Grade C and Grade D examination 2026. Interested candidates can apply through the official SSC website before the last date, May 15, 2026.This recruitment drive will be conducted for approximately 731 vacancies in various ministries, departments, organisations, and attached and subordinate offices of the Government of India.Candidates are advised to complete the application process early, as the last date and time for submission is 11 PM on May 15, 2026.The Commission has also made it clear that applications will be accepted only in online mode.

SSC Stenographer recruitment 2026: Vacancy details

The Staff Selection Commission has announced around 731 vacancies for Grade C and Grade D posts.Detailed post-wise and category-wise vacancies will be released separately on the official website later. The recruitment is for direct appointment to Group B and Group C posts across different government departments.

SSC Stenographer recruitment 2026: Eligibility criteria

Educational qualification

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board or university by August 1, 2026.
  • Only candidates with stenography skills will be eligible to appear for the examination.

Age limit for Grade C posts:

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Maximum age: 30 years

For Grade D posts:

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Maximum age: 27 years

  • The age will be calculated as on August 1, 2026.
  • Age relaxation will be provided to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and ex-servicemen as per government rules.

SSC Stenographer recruitment 2026: OTR required

Candidates must complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC portal before filling out the application form. Earlier registrations made on the old platform will not be valid for this recruitment.The Commission has also advised candidates to use Aadhaar-based authentication to make the verification process easier during the examination.

SSC Stenographer recruitment 2026: Selection process

The examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode as an open competitive examination. After the final result is announced, document verification will be done by the concerned departments.Candidates must produce original certificates, mark sheets, and educational qualification proof during verification. If they fail to do so, their candidature may be cancelled.
