'We will use force': New audio captures US Navy's final warning to ships entering & departing Iranian ports amid blockade

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) on Wednesday released an audio message of US naval forces warning vessels against attempting to breach its ongoing blockade of Iranian ports. In a post on X, United States Central Command said US naval vessels are actively patrolling the Gulf of Oman as part of the blockade. “US forces are present, vigilant, and ready to ensure compliance,” it said. The audio message, purportedly broadcast to ships in the region, delivers a warning: “The US has announced a formal blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas… Do not attempt to breach the blockade. Vessels will be boarded for interdiction and seizure.”It further cautions that ships must “turn around and prepare to be boarded,” adding, “If you do not comply with this blockade, we will use force. The whole of the United States Navy is ready to force compliance.”

Blockade enforcement intensifies

The development comes as the US steps up enforcement of the naval blockade imposed earlier this week. A US warship, USS Spruance (DDG 111), recently forced an Iranian-flagged cargo vessel to turn back after it attempted to evade restrictions.Centcom said at least 10 vessels have already been redirected, with “zero ships” breaching the blockade since its launch. The operation aims to cut off maritime trade routes to Iran, effectively isolating its economy. The blockade spans key waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, with US forces asserting control over shipping movements in and out of Iranian ports. The warning comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, even as diplomatic efforts continue. Iran has threatened to halt trade in the Gulf region if the blockade is not lifted, signalling the risk of further escalation. At the same time, US President Donald Trump has indicated that the conflict could be “very close to over,” with talks potentially resuming soon.
